Eva...Happy Birthday

As far as I know :

She's a woman of strength though very sensitive to what others say, gets upset, hurt, and wounded
She's intelligent, opinionated, and critical, to the point of wanting perfection
She's genuinely a role model to mommies, supportive to her three bright and good kids,
That...she got all praises from me...

 Eva Nunez...sounds Spanish?
But she never renounce her roots ---RTR
 Bisayang Dako diay!
 Bravo, bravo, bravo!

 Vang...that's my monicker for her,
Especially when i need her services-- utang TM load
But pay later of course! Negosyo baya!
 Nah! makasuk-an jud ni Edwin.

 Name it, she has it...
 Natasha, Avon...
 Stanhome, FullerLife, Tupperware, etc...
Within an hour, orders are delivered  under your nose..perfect!

"The Greatest Love of All"

February 12, 2012.  News: Whitney Houston died at 48 in Los Angeles.
It shocked the whole world specially the music industry.  It is a great loss for a great music icon.

I am not really  a Whitney Houston big fan but i love her music particularly this song, 'The Greatest Love of All". I like the melody, rhythm, and above all the lyrics.

This song is for Robin.

The Greatest Love of All

I believe the children
are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way

Show them all the beauty they possess inside

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

Everybody’s  searching for a hero

People need someone to look up to

I never found anyone to fulfill my needs

A lonely place to be

So I learned to depend on me

[Chorus:]

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows

If I fail, if I succeed

At least I live as I believe

No matter what they take from me

They can't take away my dignity

Because the greatest love
of all

Is happening to me

I found the greatest love of all

Inside of me

The greatest love of all

Is easy to achieve

Learning to love yourself

It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future

Teach them well and let them lead the way

Show them all the beauty they possess inside

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

[Chorus]

And if by chance, that special place

That you've been dreaming of

Leads you to a lonely place

Find your strength in love

Barney Mickey Word World: Robin's First Lessons

If only i can talk to the people behind Barney, Mickey Mouse, and Word World personally, I should thank and congratulate him for the good influence he contributed to Robin.

At age one, Barney was Rob's first favorite TV show. Rob's first love to rhythm and melodies are from Barney's nursery rhymes. It was Barney who taught him that the sun and the stars are heavenly bodies that shines and twinkle in the sky with the song, "Oh Mr. Sun Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, Please shine down on me" and "twinkle, twinkle, lil star". That a butterfly is a mini  insect that flies because of the song, "Butterfly, butterfly, fly fly away", and many others.  Barney's lessons are more than songs but also good manners like saying "thank you" after asking a favor, saying "please" if asking a favor, and "welcome" when responding to a "thank you". The attitude of putting wastes in a bin is Barney's influence too!  These are little things but count a lot of attitude on Robin's part. The effect of "Barney-ism", if i may call it for Rob's sake, made me easy in teaching Robin simple "must" lessons for his beginnings.

Several learning like the basic things that go --- train and its sounds, bicycle and how its wheels spin around,  jeep and the blow of its horn, a bit of science --- astronomy, biology, space, and others that a child should know are Barney's.

There were several Barney lessons also that I've personally learned a lot. A lot haven't learnt when I was little. These are something "new" things that I found it to be insightful, funny, and enjoyable.

Another Rob's great influencer (is there such this word?) is Mickey Mouse. His counting numbers, first dance, the "Hotdog Dance", naming animal characters like daisy, goofy, donald, and minny. These are Mickey's famous friends except one who is alien to me --Pete. It was Robin who introduced me to Pete. Through Mickey, now Robin can count numbers up to "thirly". That's how he says for "thirty".

"Word World". This is a TV program that introduced Robin how to read 3 - 5 letter words like cat, dog,  sheep, stairs, etc. Here, Rob learned phonetics, spelling, and identifying animals.

Watching educational TV shows and related programs are beneficial to learning children, however, should be controlled by adults at home.

And...the best thing is : " Learning things with kids is worth great re-learning for adults"..It pays to be a child sometimes.

Oh! My Banana!...

What can we get from bananas?

I had closely observed Robin eats fruits like banana, papaya, and pineapple. These are his favorites. But amongst the three banana is his best. He can consume 2 bunches, the most, in a day. Usually, it's "lakatan" or "tundan". Most of the time, he likes the latter. Lately,  i find it alarming because I can't imagine how Rob devoured with that volume.

From what I heard banana is rich in potassium and it's good for the heart. Basically, that's the notion. To be sure, what I did, I surfed in the "net" to see what nutritive value will he get from the fruit.
Banana is both rich in minerals and vitamins with Potassium having the highest mineral content. Other minerals are Phosporous, Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium, Iron, Selenium, Manganese, Copper, and Zinc. Its vitamin contents, Vitamin A contains the highest and others are Vitamin B1, B2, B6, Niacin, Folate, Pantothenic Acid, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K. Banana contains small amounts of  other minerals and vitamins too.
With this advisory I was grateful Robin is a banana eater...but...it should be in "moderation".  More than enough of anything is not good  for the body.

Robin draw out several lessons out of his eating. Like.....

When asked, "What's the color of  banana?, he immediately says,"lellow" for"yellow".  Upon peeling off the fruit, slowly, he says, "banana peel". Afterwards, he'll threw the peel in the garbage bin and without batting an eyelash, he says, "fenk you" for "thank you". He hardly pronounced the "th", but instead says "f".  After his "fenk you",  if nobody replied "welcome"? voluntarily he answers,"you're welcome!" with a high and low voice inflection of the word "welcome". Very funny!

In the house banana becomes our regular meal afters. For Robin, it can be before or after meals and in-betweens.

Happy eating ;)
