My little drummer boy...

When Rob was one year and a half, I found him already fascinated to music and loves to strike any surface with a pair of  spoon. My sofa was his favorite object to hit. Imagine the damaged done. The sofa arms are all smashed up! He used the empty can of his milk as his cymbals. At a very young age he handles his spoon-drum stick like a pro gracefully and can accompany the tune of  Willy Revillame's song  "Ikaw na Nga"( sorry not so sure of the title), in his defunct TV show, Wowowie, and take note, with the right beat.  As a normal mom, i was really amazed!  He can also sing with Willy and hit the right note in a gibberish manner.

Robin started to go to church, officially, at age two. His passion for drumming enhanced as he earnestly listens to the church band. Plus! he mimicks the church Pastor during praise and worship. He is the only kid in the church, so far, who eagerly attends and concentrates to listen. I find him amusing. People in the church too! At home with my sofa and a pair of spoon, he would play christians songs he learned.

Five days before christmas i bought Rob a drum set with cymbals as my gift to him. On his first night with the instrument? what an ear-splitting banging of the drums we heard, we hardly slept. We all slept past twelve midnight. He keenly experimented how the five drums would sound if hit strongly with matching two cymbals on the sides. At times, i felt he doesn't like how it sounded because of its small size compared to the real ones. It's just akin to a toy drum. But generally, he was in high spirit that very night. Only...the house became as noisy as we hardly hear each other.  That night, I was very anxious our neighbors might file a protest of  "public disturbance". Thanks God, none so far.

Lately, i heard him and his Kuya Fonzy, son of my nephew, sang "Who am I". Sometimes he on the drums while Fonzy on the vocals. If only Rob could perfectly memorize the entire song, it would really be a whole lot of fun and entertaining listening to both. Now, i'm looking into the lyrics of that song so I can sing it with him too.

Rob's day would never be complete without the headbanging drum beating in the house.

salmagundi

This is my brainchild.

In one of my travels to Manila, while waiting for my flight, i joined the queue in a magazine stand and randomly picked one which i wasn't familiar, with the purpose to just read as an antidote to my boredom.  While leafing through the pages, i read this word "salmagundi". It sounded so "classy" or "whatever" to me though, ironically, i really didn't know its real meaning. It really stuck to me on that particularly hour but it didn't sunk into my consciousness.  I went to the office the following day and started my day right for my unfinish work conceptualizing an office magazine sort of which contents were of human resource and organizational development themes. To make the story so so short, the contents were done, but the magazine has no title.

I let it pass for about five days before i went back for the title, still, can't find one. I just kept on re-reading the pages. I found out that the magazine's content were of different concerns and subject matter. It's all about personal leadership, health and wellness, 5S, work effciency and effectiveness, productivity, management tools, and other related topics. So i though it should bear a name that really fits the contents.

As i was winding up to motivate myself to think of the name, i read the magazine i bought at the airport. It reminded me of the word "salmagundi". Out of curiosity i researched it with Webster's, but to my dismay, it was not found. I was challenged! what word is this? Just for luck, i tried Kenyon and Knott, there i found the word. It's a French term for "mix, assorted, and other related meaning". Actually, there were several synonyms, but i got only the two closest to my understanding.

There my magazine got it's name. However, it circulated only for two years for any other reason i can't explain.  It hibernated until now. The thing is, I missed the project. It was the only way i can express and share myself.

Here comes, blogging! I take this very providential to continue "salmagundi" in circulation, not universal, though within my reach.

the moment when i have you

it was quite a ver very long time i have been longing to have you in my life
it took me courage to face the world to let them know i want you in my life
it took me nerve to chose whom to start with to have you in my life
it took me more or less seven years to finally have you in my life
but with you now
what a great pride to have you...bravoooo!

these lines seem corny but it is true
whatever people say about me and you
gosh! it's none of their business what we wanna do
what is important in this universe is me and you
with you now in my life?
i am perfectly complete!....whew!

people around are buzzing who you really are
silently i laughed at their demeanor or so
i pity them -- old fashioned, ignorant, petty, and envious
because deep inside me if they only know
i conquered the universe with you
victory!victory! victory!...yeeyyy!

only few people know who you are to me
but hardly see you -- your form and substance
to some you are an enigma from where you came from
venus, mars, jupiter, or pluto
they wonder when you came into being
winter, fall, summer, or spring

to me you are like a water so crystal clear
like jewel that sparkles in my midst of darkness
like a mathematical equation that gives balance to my world
you are my work of art
like da vinci's monalisa and michael angelo
you my kiddo!

so people, people, people! if you are in limbo
ahhh....how miserable you would be!
but as long as i have you
my pretty and brilliant robin inigo
baby...this is for you.
from mommy yo..
