My little drummer boy...

When Rob was one year and a half, I found him already fascinated to music and loves to strike any surface with a pair of  spoon. My sofa was his favorite object to hit. Imagine the damaged done. The sofa arms are all smashed up! He used the empty can of his milk as his cymbals. At a very young age he handles his spoon-drum stick like a pro gracefully and can accompany the tune of  Willy Revillame's song  "Ikaw na Nga"( sorry not so sure of the title), in his defunct TV show, Wowowie, and take note, with the right beat.  As a normal mom, i was really amazed!  He can also sing with Willy and hit the right note in a gibberish manner.

Robin started to go to church, officially, at age two. His passion for drumming enhanced as he earnestly listens to the church band. Plus! he mimicks the church Pastor during praise and worship. He is the only kid in the church, so far, who eagerly attends and concentrates to listen. I find him amusing. People in the church too! At home with my sofa and a pair of spoon, he would play christians songs he learned.

Five days before christmas i bought Rob a drum set with cymbals as my gift to him. On his first night with the instrument? what an ear-splitting banging of the drums we heard, we hardly slept. We all slept past twelve midnight. He keenly experimented how the five drums would sound if hit strongly with matching two cymbals on the sides. At times, i felt he doesn't like how it sounded because of its small size compared to the real ones. It's just akin to a toy drum. But generally, he was in high spirit that very night. Only...the house became as noisy as we hardly hear each other.  That night, I was very anxious our neighbors might file a protest of  "public disturbance". Thanks God, none so far.

Lately, i heard him and his Kuya Fonzy, son of my nephew, sang "Who am I". Sometimes he on the drums while Fonzy on the vocals. If only Rob could perfectly memorize the entire song, it would really be a whole lot of fun and entertaining listening to both. Now, i'm looking into the lyrics of that song so I can sing it with him too.

Rob's day would never be complete without the headbanging drum beating in the house.
